NUCHAL TRANSLUCENCY QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM COMING TO ONTARIO!
Nuchal translucency has been a part of the Ontario Prenatal Screening Program since 2011, and sonographers have played a huge role in providing the majority of pregnant women with excellent quality risk prediction for Down syndrome.
Both internationally and nationally, authorities have recommended that anyone providing NT measurements be a part of a formal Nuchal Translucency Quality Assurance program, as it has been noted that without it, measurement quality and therefore quality of screening deteriorates over time.
BORN Ontario is in the process of implementing a Nuchal Translucency Quality Assurance (NTQA) Program. Over the next three months we will be preparing all sonographers and their supervising physicians for rollout of the first formal NTQA provincial report.
