Canadian Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Is the scientific journal of the CSDMS

Annual Conference
- The CSDMS holds an annual national conference with an exceptional educational program.
- Nationally and internationally recognized speakers
- Opportunity to enhance a member's professional knowledge while obtaining continuing medical education (CME) credits necessary to maintain professional certification.
- All CSDMS members receive a membership discount when attending the CSDMS conference.
Continuing Education Credits
- All CME credits granted by the CSDMS may be used towards maintaining CARDUP and/or ARDMS certification.
- They are also approved by ICAVL, ICAEL for laboratory accreditation purposes.
- The CSDMS has a process established to approve CME credits for individuals or groups while enhancing the learning opportunities for all members.
Professional Liability Insurance
- All active CSDMS members have the opportunity to access the excellent professional liability insurance plan to protect themselves in their professional practice as sonographers.
Career Development
- A detailed quality assurance manual has been prepared by the CSDMS and is available to all members.
- Practice standards and applicable examination guidelines are available to all members via our interactive website.
- All members have the opportunity to be involved in the society and to contribute to the growth and development of the profession of ultrasound in Canada.
Representation
- The CSDMS is the national voice for ultrasound and represents the profession at the Canadian Medical Association Committee on Conjoint Accreditation.
- The CSDMS is a founding sponsor of the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP) the national professional certification body for sonography.
- The CSDMS is in constant communication with affiliated groups such as the Canadian Association of Radiologists, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists, the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, The Society of Vascular Sonography and the Canadian and American Society of Echocardiography, as well as our provincial partners.
Member Recognition
The CSDMS has founded an education fund through the generous support of our private sector partners. This educational fund allows for the recognition of members of our society via various awards such as the:
Excellence in Ultrasound Award:
Awarded to a sonographer for the top annual scientific article submitted and includes a monetary award and complementary registration, travel and accommodation expenses to the annual AGM and Education Conference.
Student Presentation Award:
Awarded for the top annual submission of a student scientific paper drawn from the regional ultrasound training programs associated with the annual educational conference includes a monetary award and complementary conference registration.
Continuing Education Award:
Awarded to an individual, institution, facility or group in recognition of an ongoing commitment to continuing medical education and includes complimentary registration to the annual educational conference.
Fellowship Award:
The CSDMS also recognizes exemplary contributions to the Society and the profession over the course of an individuals' career through a CSDMS Society Fellowship award.
Educational Funding:
Peter McLardie Memorial Education Fund:
The CSDMS in association with CARDUP has created this new educational bursary for both sonography students and practicing sonographers. This one time monetary award is made to individuals seeking to enhance their professional knowledge through additional educational programs. The fund is supported by contributions from both professional organizations, members, corporate partners and the public at large. Applications are available on the website.
